Visa information

To enter Poland, International Students must first secure a D-type national visa (or a D-Visa) and then apply for a Temporary Residence Permit soon after arriving.

As part of the application process you will need to obtain the relevant entry clearance before you can travel, ensure you have sufficient funds and pass any necessary health checks before your arrival in Poland.Please read more information on applying for your visa:

D-Visa

You can apply for a D-type national visa to enter Poland for more than 90 days. Full details are available on the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Visas page.

Contact your local consulate

We recommend students contact their local Polish consulate as there may be differences in applying for a D-Visa depending on your home country.

Contact details for consulates are also available on the site. Simply search for your home country and select ‘More details’.

Documentation

To submit your D-Visa application, you can register with E-KONSULAT. You will need:

  • A current passport
  • A photograph
  • A filled out and signed visa application
  • Proof of visa payment
  • Medical travel insurance, with coverage of at least EUR 30,000

Other supporting documents (including but not limited to purpose of travel, proof of finances, and more confirming other circumstances referred to in the visa application). The full list is on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Visa website.

You will then require a Temporary Residence Permit.


Temporary Residence Permit

Once you have your D-Visa and have arrived in Poland, you must apply for a Temporary Resident Permit to extend your stay for the period of your academic year.

Information can be found on the Polish Office for Foreigners website (in English).

Applying

You must submit the application personally, including fingerprints.

You will require much of the same documentation as your D-Visa, along with Confirmation from Coventry University Wroclaw and a completed temporary residence permit application form.

The case should be handled within 60 days. Successful applicants will be issued with a residence card.

Fees

There are two application fees, covering stamp duty (PLN 440) and for issuing the residence card (PLN 50).
